Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Matfer Exopat 11-5/8-by-16-3/8-Inch Nonstick Baking MatCustomer Review: Absolute JUNK - There's a Reason It's on 4 for 3 Promo Summary: 1 StarsI have one of the Silpat's which is more expensive and love it for baking. It saves messy cleanups and is more environmentally friendly than continually using parchment paper. When I saw the Matfer product was made by Silpat and was significantly less expensive, factoring in the 4 for 3 promotion, I bought two. The first two that came were absolutely filthy, having grease marks all over the edges. In addition, the white edging was peeling/flaking off both mats. Amazon's return service was a dream and I reordered replacements for the two defective mats. Well, guess what - the replacements' edges were also peeling/flaking off. I've returned these to Amazon and once I get my refund will purchase the more expensive Silpat product. Don't waste your money on these less expensive items.
Customer Review: Made some great not burned cookies! Summary: 5 StarsWorks as advertised and less mess and ease of use and never a burned bottom. They certainly could burn though if in long enough so pay attn to your temps and timimg and you will get great cookies each time with these easy to use and clean mats.
I did not notice any funny tastes, the cookies baked well, looked good and I had to make a couple trays to determine my timing on each type of cookie I was making. All ovens are different, types of cookies, volume of dough/size of cookie etc all make a difference whether with these mats or with metal baking sheets. So nice to not have to spray them and make a bigger mess!
Customer Review: Works great Summary: 5 StarsOnce you buy one you'll want at least one more. These are great for cookies or just anything you don't want sticking in the oven.
Customer Review: Outstanding Replacement Summary: 5 StarsI was looking to replace some older Silpats. I usually purchase my cooking equipment at Chef Central because I can rely on their inventory being up to date. However on this trip I find out to my dismay that they do not carry Silpat anymore because the price of silicone has gone up, at least that is what I was told. So, the in house product Chef Central chose to manufacturer under their name sadly to say was thin disappointing quality. It felt so cheap there was no way I saw it as a replacement.
After some searching in Amazon and some instilled faith, I took a shot at the Matfer Exopat. Let me tell you, from the experience of Silpat I put this product right on par if not better because of the value. This product is half the price and performs as well. You will not be dissatisfied with it. I am going to order more for all of my other pans.
Customer Review: good addition to my kitchen essentials Summary: 4 StarsI bought this to cut down clean up of my granite counter after baking. I haven't used it in the oven but its great for rolling stuff out. Non stick and easy to clean, it stores very easily by rolling up in a rubber band. I bought two to give myself a larger surface to work on at times. So far nothing has stuck to them!
